69ner Made it Happen

The Iconic 'Battle of the Golds', was a mere dream which never became a reality till a decade ago.

The unknown secret is a must read, especially to the youngsters in this day and age... it was a 69ner - by name, late Sajeev Gunasekara a distinguished member of the 88 Batch, who gave leadership to revive the much-awaited conversation with D.S. SenanayakaVidyalaya.. during a time when negotiation attempts failed more than once to make our big match dream a reality.

It was the strong links and bonds of our batch mate Sajeev and his buddy, the celebrated DS old boy and former National skipper HashanThilakarathna, together was the voice that drew the attention of the authorities to reinitiate the long-awaited discussion. It was the duo, that influenced the breakthrough in tilting the scale by mellowing the DS stronghold, convincing and substantiating the compatibility of the teams that made the historic Battle of the Golds a reality in the year 2007.

We the distinguished batch of 88, is grateful to our late batch-mate Sajeev Gunasekara for making us all so proud to revive this memory with gratitude to remember the forgotten hero ... may he attain the bliss of Nirvana.
